Okay, so you’re several thousand miles too far west to take advantage of NY sample sales. But considering that your New Year’s resolution (remember that?) was more likely about getting fit rather than getting fashion, consider yourself lucky that you’re in Portland where you can get dressed for getting fit for next to nothing thanks to Lucy’s moving sale.
Portland-based women’s activewear label Lucy is having a major warehouse sale for two days beginning today, March 14 (10-7 PM) with ridiculous prices including tops from $5-20, shorts and skirts for $5 and outerwear for $40.
Tomorrow the hours are 9 - 4 PM at the Lucy Warehouse (135 NW Industrial St.).

Mink (3418 SE Hawthorne Blvd) is all moved in at their new location that has to be at least double the size of Carla Mink’s previous jewel-box sized location on the other side of 39th. Now she’s grouped with Imelda’s and American Apparel which lets you cover a number of bases in short order. Looks like spring as lighter weights and prints are on the rails as of yesterday with more coming daily.

Mark your calendars. The second annual Flourish, N Mississippi’s fashion show is coming up April 10 at 7 PM at the Mississippi Ballroom. Last year, boutiques Gypsy Chic, Pin Me Apparel, Blue, Amalee, Phlox and Black Wagon, plus Portland-based label Sameunderneath which has a retail location on N Shaver participated in the fashion show. This year, Barbara Seipp, who owns Phlox, is launching her line Isaac Hers at the show. A fundraiser for Escuela Viva, the event also features a silent auction and raffle. We don’t have all the details yet. Stay tuned.

Portland-based fashion designer Anna Cohen—these days getting attention in the pages of O!, Town & Country, Lucky, and Domino for her mix of high style and sustainability—is moving her studio in March. For us this means a pre-move studio sale with samples and more on March 15 from 11-4 PM at her studio at 323 NE Wygant #204 (1 blk S. of Alberta, just off MLK). Cohen’s spring line, seen on the runway at last fall’s Portland Fashion Week, with notes of the 40s, fluid burnt orange charmeuse, and her wickedly cut contemporary denim.
