To see work of some of Portland’s finest fashion designers outside the shops, consider the Action/Re-Action Runway Show at the Museum of Contemporary Craft (724 NW Davis) this evening, Wednesday, January 30 at 7 PM. For this collaboration between the Museum and ultra (ultrapdx.com), fashion takes one step closer to art as each designer creates a one-of-a-kind garment inspired by one of the jewelry pieces in the Museum’s current show, Touching Warms the Art. You’ll find work by Adam Arnold, Julia Barbee, Genevieve Dellinger, Elizabeth Dye, Gretchen Jones, Emily Katz, Leanne Marshall, Liza Rietz, Emily Ryan, Holly Stalder, and Kate Towers. Call the Museum to reserve tickets. $10.

The exterior of the building is painted in high-70s style like the Partridge Family van, “SALE!” scream the giant letters amid the day-glo flowers. But this is more than another post-holiday sale, Mercantile (735 SW Park) is clearing the decks in advance of its move to SW Park and Alder. We’d been wondering what was happening with this go-to Downtown spot, with Marc by Marc Jacobs, Burberry, M. Missoni, Diane Von Furstenberg, Vince, Trovata, and more. We knew that the building they share with the Virginia Cafe (which has found a new location) and Zell Bros. was slated to be redeveloped into a tower, and wondered where Mercantile would land.
AND, beginning January 30, they’re having a Super Bowl sale with an additional 50% off all sale items and one-time superbowl sale items.
